From "Ugh, This Prick" To "I Would Die For You"

I wrote in a previous post about how I am playing "Hades." I still am, and am happy to say I have beaten Hades himself more times (but not enough to complete the story yet), but I am also playing another game when I need a break from slaughtering countless hoards of the dead. My current other game is the "Ace Attorney Investigations Collection." I've made it to game two in the collection, "Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor's Gambit," and am in the midst of the second episode, "The Captive Turnabout." In this chapter, you meet a new character, Eustace Winner (Yumihiko Ichiyanagi in the original Japanese version), and damn is this boy an annoying dumbass.

This is one of the most punchable faces I have ever seen.

As much as Eustace is currently irritating me, mentally griping about him gave me pause because it reminded me of a very similar situation. When I played "Pokemon Violet," there was also a boy who popped up early in the game whom I initially loathed. His name is Arven (aka Peper). If you played "Violet" or "Scarlet," I think you know where this is going. Is there any one of us whose feelings for Arven didn't radically change after defeating a second Titan? I was absolutely ready to either die for or adopt that boy and his Mabosstiff by the end of the game.

To paraphrase the great Rosa Diaz, if anything happened to this boy and his dog, I would kill everyone involved and then myself

So, considering how drastically my opinion changed on Arven, I'm wondering if something similar will happen with Eustace (No spoilers please, I'm happy to find out for myself.). It seems pretty clear that he's a pawn of Gavelle's, but will his likely tragic backstory (because he's a "Ace Attorney" main character, he of course has to have some kind of tragic background) be enough to shift my feelings? We shall see.

And how does this relate to pro-wrestling? I actually have not yet found a super strong correlation, though I have been wracking my brain throughout the day. There have certainly been a number of pro-wrestlers over the years that I initially liked or loved that I ended up being unable to stand because of revelations about their actions in and/or outside the ring. But someone whom I went from initially despising to adoring? Hmmm.... I can't think of anyone. I initially found Sammy Guevara pretty annoying when I first saw him in PWG. Now, I don' dislike him, but I'm not a hardcore fan. I was indifferent to Cody Rhodes for a lot of his career, started to get annoyed with him when he was in NJPW (as I did with all of The Elite at the time), and now like the work he's doing in WWE, but it's nowhere close to ride or die territory. I'll keep thinking about it and make an update if anyone comes to mind.

Has anyone reading had such an experience? If so, who was the wrestler and what did they do to change your feelings? I'm curious, and other stories may spark something in my memory.
